Arsenal tracking young Dutch forward Noa Lang

It has been somewhat of a rocky start for Arsenal in the Premier League this season and while some confidence has been restored following two successive wins, it is obvious that they are still lacking a cutting edge in attack.

Despite the presence of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who have admittedly been lacklustre of late, it appears that more firepower is needed for Arsenal, who look toothless up front.

As such, the club has been linked with a move for highly-rated Dutch attacker, Noa Lang, who was understood to be the subject of attention from Leeds United in the summer, though has since been tracked by a number of top European clubs.

What would Lang add to Arsenal?

The player was a relative unknown until the end of last season; indeed he spent 2020/2021 on loan at Belgian outfit, Club Brugge, before making his move from Ajax permanent in a £6 million deal.

Following his prolific exploits in the Jupiler Pro League which saw him post statistics of 17 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. It was understood that his club was considering a resale for a quick profit of the player, in the region of £24 million.

The 22-year-old has started this campaign, very much in the same vein of form, with three goals and four assists in eight appearances, in addition to a strong showing against PSG in the Champions League.

What has become obvious at the Emirates Stadium, is that Arsenal need rejuvenation in their forward line and a case could definitely be made for them to bid for the player, should he have another good season.

Predominantly a left-winger, he has shown that he is more than capable of operating across the front three and his attributes certainly suit Arsenal’s style of play. Fast and tricky, with an eye for goal, he excels at finding space and making intelligent runs – something that Arsenal have lacked so far this season.

If Mikel Arteta (assuming he stays), is able to get the best out of new summer signing from Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard, the arrival of Lang, could see a potent combination form that could really excite fans.

What will be interesting is whether Arsenal make a move in January or next summer, though one thing that is for sure, is that should the player keep on performing, his stock will undoubtedly rise further, while there is likely to be strong competition for his signature.
