Reportedly, the Red Devils are one club that is said to be interested because of uncertainty surrounding the future of Edinson Cavani at Old Trafford.
Since Messi’s arrival in the French capital, Icardi has fallen out of favour with boss Mauricio Pochettino, which has led to the 28-year-old considering his options.
Juve looking for attacking reinforcements
With striker Alvaro Morata’s loan spell in Turin set to come to an end, Juventus could be primed to pounce for the Argentinian who could well see this as a chance to revive his career in a similar way that compatriot Gonzalo Higuain once did.
The opportunity to be the main man under boss Massimiliano Allegri may well be too good to turn down, however, the Old Lady could have trouble keeping hold of players themselves, with another Argentine forward – Paulo Dybala’s future up in the air.
In addition, the long term futures of talented youngsters Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski is also being speculated, with both linked to a host of top clubs, while Aaron Ramsey is understood to be surplus to requirements and Arthur Melo is a wanted man.
Icardi will want to join a club that has a chance of competing at the highest level and with Man Utd still struggling and yet to really impose themselves on the Premier League, as well as having a number of attacking options, a move to Old Trafford could be unrealistic.
While Icardi is understood to be frustrated by the situation, staying where he is could be advantageous for the player, with Kylian Mbappe linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer on a free transfer, which could see him restored to the starting lineup next season.
However, whether the player would want to stay and fight for his place in Paris remains to be seen, especially if an offer from Juventus materialises.
