888 Holdings sets sights on recently regulated Dutch market

After passing online gambling regulation last month, the Dutch market has been a major talking point in the industry, with a number of European-based firms looking to have licenses granted and approved – 888 Holdings being one of those.

Currently, there are just 10 online gambling companies that are available to Dutch customers, including British-based Bet365, who appear to have stolen a march on their competition in this market.

However, the Dutch gambling authority has received in excess of 20 applications to operate there, one of those being from Gibraltar based company 888 Holdings.

Date of 2022 eyed for 888

It is therefore understood, that the company has identified the latter half of 2022 to be live in the country, at which point, customers might be ready to sample a new service offering. The last few months have been exciting for the company, following their purchase of the William Hill European assets and a move into the Netherlands, would represent a major strategic step in their business blueprint.

Itai Pazner, CEO of 888 Holdings, articulated how important a presence in Holland would be for the company: “Q3 2021 was a period of outstanding strategic progress for 888. During the period we announced the transformational acquisition of William Hill International, successfully launched SI Sportsbook in the US, and began operating 888sport under a new licence in Germany as we continued to execute our plan to build a global online betting and gaming leader.

“Alongside these important strategic milestones, I am pleased with the group’s continued positive trading, particularly as we lap very tough comparative periods.

“This performance reflects the continued success of our data-driven investments and execution against our product-leadership plan that delivers ongoing improvements in the usability, quality and safety of our sports betting and gaming products.

He continued: “Underpinned by our advanced technology, leading products, and strong brands, as well as the increased scale, talent and diversification that the group will benefit from as a result of its combination with William Hill International, we have a very exciting platform for long-term growth.”

Although it may take a while for 888 to become established in the Netherlands, there is no reason why they cannot be, if they follow the model that they have stuck to over the last few years.
